Sterling
College is located on an attractive campus at 125 W.
Cooper St. in Sterling, Kansas. Sterling is located 18
miles northwest of Hutchinson or about an hour northwest
of Wichita on Kansas Highways 14 & 96 and has a
population of 2,600.

Ashram begins Wednesday with registration beginning at
3:00 pm and dinner at 5:30 pm followed by "The Hour of
the Open Heart" Orientation is at 7:00 pm
Wednesday. The Youth Leaders will announce when the
youth will meet separately from the adult schedule. The
final Ashram activity ends before lunch on Saturday.
CAMPUS FACILITIES:
Air-conditioned facilities assure a pleasant atmosphere
for our daily schedule. Residence halls provide quiet
sleeping quarters and rooms for small prayer groups.
Larger meetings are held in the Student Center, which
also offers the cafeteria, game room, and lounge areas.
RECREATION:
Tennis, Basketball, Volleyball, Ping Pong and Pool
Tables. Also available is the Sterling City Pool.

REGISTRATION FEE (Due July 1st)
Adults and Youth: $10.00
Children: Free
After July 1st: $15.00

Ages 4 through 11 years:
$110.00
Ages 3 and under: Free Competent child care is provided
without
charge.
PART-TIME ATTENDEES:
Will pay a $10.00 daily registration fee plus meals and
room as used. Guests at evening worship services are
welcome to attend free of charge.
FEE INCLUDES:
Program costs, all meals, lodging and insurance.
SCHOLARSHIPS:
There is a limited number of scholarships available at
the rate of $40.00 each. To apply, simply mark the box
next to "Check here if scholarship is requested" on the registration form
located on the
Ashram
Brochure.
Scholarships are awarded upon an earliest request basis.
An offering will be taken during the week for the 2010 scholarship fund.

REGISTRATION:
A

is available online. Simply print the
brochure, fill out and detach the registration form and
mail it to the address shown. Final
registration and room assignments begins at 3:00 pm,
July 21st, at Kilborn Hall located off of West Forrest
Ave. Follow the Ashram signs.
WHAT TO BRING:
Plan to dress informally. Bring your own robe,
toiletries, towel, pillow, sheets, blankets, Bible and
notebook. If you want to swim, bring a modest swimsuit,
towel and a nominal Sterling city pool fee.
DISCIPLINES:
Those participating in an Ashram abide by the
disciplines as established. Participants are not to
bring radios, tapes or CD players, and children and
youth are to remain on campus during the Ashram unless
accompanied by an adult.
EMERGENCY MESSAGES:
In case of an emergency, Ashram participants can be
reached at 316-259-1399 for Ashram Board Member Phil
Newman.

Many people have
found their lives eternally changed by the good news
from the Kansas Christian Ashram. Like the believers in
Acts 4:32-37, some have desired to offer a sustained
source of financial stability through the Kansas

Ashram Leadership
Evangelist
Dennis
Wallace, Evangelist, has served in
the Kansas West Conference of the UMC for over 20 years,
first at Arlington and Abbyville UMCs, then the Emmanuel
UMC in Abilene. He serves the Asbury Church in Wichita.
He has conducted evangelistic meetings and has been a
speaker at summer camps, youth rallies, family camps,
etc.
A graduate of Asbury College and Candler School of
Theology, Dennis has worked in youth ministry. His
warmth, humor and dynamic preaching abilities are
appreciated. Dennis is a trained Growth Plus Consultant
and a leader in church growth and evangelism.
Bible
Teacher
Steve
Rankin, Bible Teacher, is the
Chaplain at Southern Methodist University in Dallas,
Texas. A native and long-time resident of Kansas and a
clergy member of the Kansas West Conference of The
United Methodist Church, Steve graduated from Saint Paul
School of Theology and did a Ph.D Northwestern
University and Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary.
He served congregations as pastor until 1995 when he
went to Southwestern College as professor and campus
minister. He joined the SMU staff in July 2009.
The abiding passion during Steve’s ministry has been the
renewal and growth of people’s lives in Christ. Over the
years he has combined scholarly work with this passion
for renewal through preaching, teaching and mentoring
people. Steve is married to Joni (Leeper) Rankin and
they have four children and one grandson.
Youth
Leader
Matt
Stuckey, Youth Leader, is the Young
Adult Coordinator at Wesley UMC in Iola. Matt graduated
from Friends University this year, and is training at
Perkins School of Youth Ministry at SMU, Dallas, TX. He
was Youth Director at the Iola Wesley UMC from 2001 to
2008. He has directed VBS and helped create “Wake the
Youth,” a coffee house ministry. Matt is Coordinator of
Youth Ministries in the Five Rivers District of the
Kansas East Conference of the UMC.
Matt believes his calling is youth ministry and sees
youth as persons who have wonderful gifts to give to the
world. His desire is to lead them into a relationship
with Jesus Christ.
Children's Leader
Jennifer
Wilson, Children’s Leader, works with
children at The Benton Church. Under her leadership, the
church has experienced successful VBSs and programs
where the Bible is taught and Jesus is worshipped as
Lord and Savior. She and her husband, Dan, reside in El
Dorado, with their three children Katelynn, Daniel, and
Gabriel..
Music
Leaders
We
welcome Cross Focus Praise
Team for the 9th year to lead singing and worship. Their
Christian lives and their enthusiasm for singing help
draw us into the presence of God. Cross Focus seeks to
point worshippers and seekers alike to the Cross of
Christ. 1 Corinthians 1:18 is their signature verse:
“The message of the cross is foolishness to those who
are perishing but to us who are being saved it is the
power of God.” |
